Vortex Velocity Flow Meter

Vortices form. The rate follows.

Vortex flow meters operate on the von Karman effect, built around a bluff body. As fluid flows past it, alternating vortices form behind the bluff body — detected by a sensor, with the frequency of their formation directly proportional to fluid velocity, letting the meter accurately calculate flow rate.

Markets & areas of application

Measurement of hydrocarbons and natural gas flow in pipelines; monitoring flow rates in refineries and petrochemical plants. Gas: air, oxygen, nitrogen, coal gas, natural gas, chemical gas and more. Liquid: high-temperature water, chemical liquid, clean and low-viscosity liquid. Steam: saturated and superheated steam.
